About Us
San Jose Medical Group (SJMG) is a multidisciplinary medical group, established in 1955.
It is a physician-owned and
governed professional corporation not associated or linked to a
parent organization or a hospital chain.
From the beginning, the founding members of SJMG determined the doctor-patient relationship to
be the foundation of our mission. It was and continues to be "To Serve the Patient."
Today, in spite of formidable challenges, we strive to provide the best care possible
to our 125,000 patients.
Over the years, we have grown into a 71-physician organization as a core unit,
along with several hundred affiliated and contracted physicians who join us to
serve our patients. Our core physician group serves the greater San Jose area,
with three large modern clinics within easy access from all areas of the city,
including northern and southern San Jose suburbs.
Our doors are open to any patient with any type of payment preference:
PPO, HMO or cash. We serve infants, children, adults and seniors(Medicare).
We have an array of highly trained physicians in primary care,
as well as specialists.
What do we think differentiates us from others in our geographic area?
- We have several of our clinics created and operated as a "one-stop-shop."
Patients receive primary care, specialty care, lab and x-ray, under one roof.
- We have extended hours at our walk-in Urgent Care center in Willow Glen.
- We have on-site, educational and clinical disease management services
for patients in Diabetes, Cardiovascular diseases, Asthma and other chronic diseases.
Where is our immediate focus for improvement? By providing a more customer
friendly experience across all interactions between all segments of our Group and our patients:
- First and foremost, improving channels of communication with
our patients through improved telephone service.
- Constantly training our employees for a better customer-oriented experience.
- Improving access to our patients with the intent of minimizing waiting periods.
- Eliminating unnecessary paperwork by upgrading our information technology and our
electronic infrastructure, hence creating operational efficiencies.
- Last but not least, analyzing all
internal processes and fixing those that are not aligned with our outcome objectives.
We believe in our mission of "Serving the Patient" and commit to follow it whole-heartedly.
Ernie Wallerstein, Chief Executive Officer
